Economics Expert Speaks at UC College of Business on Fiscal Policy

The Department of Economics at the University of Cincinnati College of Business will welcome economics expert N. Gregory Mankiw on Friday, April 15, 2011.  Mankiw will give an afternoon lecture titled, “An Exploration of Optimal Stabilization Policy” to the UC and business community at 3 p.m. in Lindner Hall 112. During his visit, Mankiw will also speak to the University of Cincinnati Foundation Board of Trustees on the "Challenges Facing Monetary & Fiscal Policy."

 Mankiw served as the Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisors from 2003 to 2005 and currently works as a professor of economics at Harvard University. A research associate for the National Bureau of Economic Research and an Advisor for the Congressional Budget Office, Mankiw writes frequently for the New York Times and Wall Street Journal and is a regular participant in academic and policy debates.

Mankiw's publications, including work on menu costs and price stickiness, and how the aging of baby boomers undermines the housing market, are ranked among the most influential over the last three decades. In addition, he has written two popular economics textbooks, selling more than two million copies in seventeen languages worldwide.
