A Big Win for the Community: Hoops Rivalry Means Helping Hands
More than 30 local schools and community agencies in need of aid will host teams of willing workers University of Cincinnati and Xavier University students, fans, friends and alumni during the Crosstown Helpout on Saturday, Jan. 24, that precedes the Feb. 3 Crosstown ShootOut basketball game between the two schools.
Up to 900 participants are expected to lend a hand, a broom or a brush that day, first gathering at UCs Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center at 8:30 a.m. Then, volunteers will work from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sponsors of this years Helpout are ARAMARK Corporation, Chiquita Brands International Inc., Glidden Paints, Home City Ice Co., The Home Depot Inc., Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, LaRosas, Panera Bread, the UC Alumni Association and XUs Alumni Association.
