Who is Eligible?


The following describes who is eligible to license, buy media, install, use, or otherwise access the software included in the Campus Agreement between UC and the Microsoft Corporation:

Students: Students must be registered UC students. Registration is verifiable through the Office of the Registrar. To receive the software available through this agreement, the registered student will be asked to provide valid identification. He or she must also read, sign, and keep a copy of the Microsoft Campus Agreement Subscription Acceptance Form for Registered UC Students. Students will own their licenses and may take the software with them only if they graduate from the University of Cincinnati. When this happens, the student will be issued a form that verifies his or her ownership of the license.

Faculty and Staff - for Use on a University-owned Computer: Current Faculty and Staff employees of the University of Cincinnati are eligible to license, buy media, install, use, or otherwise access the software included in the Campus Agreement between UC and the Microsoft Corporation. Eligibility is verifiable through the HR employee data base which is updated daily. To license the software for use in the office, employees must sign and keep a copy of the Faculty/Staff Request Form for the Licensing of Microsoft Software.

Faculty at Staff - for Work at Home Rights: To license the software for use at home, a UC employee must sign and keep a copy of the Microsoft Campus Agreement Work at Home Acceptance Form for UC Faculty and Staff. Media for home use rights is Student Media and must be purchased at the UC Bookstores. Eligibility is verifiable through the HR employee data base which is updated daily. Per Microsoft's requirement, you may use the products on a personally-owned computer at home as long as there is a copy on a university-owned computer at work that is available for your use.

Departments: All UC departments are included in the agreement and their representatives may license, buy media, install, use, or otherwise access the software included in the Campus Agreement between UC and the Microsoft Corporation. Licensing and installation covers all UC-owned or UC-leased computers. Departmental representatives must sign the Faculty/Staff Request Form for the Licensing of Microsoft Software.

Who is NOT Eligible?

The following are examples of people not eligible to license, receive, buy media, or install the software:

  • Anyone enrolled exclusively in non-credit courses
  • Alumni
  • Companies, and their employees, who have been hired on a contractual basis for services on or off campus. (i.e., individuals not directly employed by University of Cincinnati).
  • Conference attendees
  • Retired Faculty and Staff
  • Visitors
