Save the Date: HLC Day Feb. 13

Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend HLC Day on Feb. 13, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., in TUC Great Hall to review key findings of UC’s Self Study document. The self study is a comprehensive process during which faculty and administrators closely examine the university’s academic and co-curricular programs, documenting strengths and challenges in a written report. HLC Day provides faculty and staff an opportunity to review key findings found in the draft document and provide input prior to submission to the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). A short presentation, followed by a question and answer session, will be given for each of the report’s five chapters:

  • Mission
  • Integrity: Ethical and responsible conduct
  • Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources and Support
  • Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement
  • Resources, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness

Faculty, staff and students will be able to review the HLC Self Study document, also referred to as an Assurance Document, on the HLC website, between Feb. 13-March 13. Feedback can be submitted using an on-line form.

Assurance Chapter Review Committees, formed for each chapter and guided by the HLC Steering Committee, attended campus meetings, conducted interviews, collected research and data, and reviewed documents to develop the report. The self-study process provides a unique opportunity for the university to take stock of itself – celebrating its successes and discovering areas for continued enhancement. The process and outcomes demonstrate the university’s deep commitment to educational quality and continuous improvement.
