In addition to department policies, CCP Students are held accountable under the University of Cincinnati Student Code of Conduct.
Course Enrollment
Maximum Semester Credit Enrollment
CCP Students can enroll in a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester regardless of funding hours available. Students who enroll in more than 15 credit hours will be asked to drop a course(s) or a course of the department’s choice will be force dropped by the CCP department prior to the drop deadline.
Prohibited Course Sessions
CCP students are prohibited from enrolling in Summer A (Session A), Summer B (Session B), and May-Mester courses. CCP students are permitted to enroll in Half Sessions but should do so with caution due to the increased pace and workload associated with an accelerated course. Full session courses should be chosen whenever possible. For help choosing a course in an appropriate session, please ask your assigned academic advisor.
Advising
Mandatory Orientation Requirement
Prior to being assigned an advisor, students who have been accepted into the CCP program and would like to begin to participate in classes on our campus or online must attend and participate mandatory virtual CCP Orientation hosted by CCP advisors. These orientation dates will be communicated to the student after their acceptance into the program. The CCP Orientation is mandatory and students will not be excused for any reason. Parental attendance is not adequate and will never substitute student attendance. After attending CCP Orientation, in its entirety, students will be assigned an Academic Advisor and given instructions for how to schedule a mandatory meeting with their Academic Advisor.
This requirement aligns with best practices to ensure students are prioritizing their participation in college-level courses, a hallmark of a successful college student, and is required by State law. The CCP Office will not respond to requests for excusal of this requirement.
Mandatory Advising Appointment Requirement
Prior to enrolling in courses for any semester, CCP students must attend a mandatory advising appointment with their assigned academic advisor. No students will be permitted to take classes at any time if this requirement has not been met. Academic advisors have limited appointment availability, so students must prioritize these appointments within their schedule. The advising appointment with the student and academic advisor will not be excused, cannot be satisfied by a parent and is required every semester a student wishes to enroll in courses. If you are not able to adjust your schedule due to your extracurricular, academic, work, or personal commitments, you may not have the proper time available to dedicate to CCP courses. In that case, we recommend you delay your participation until your schedule is more conducive to the requirements of a CCP student.
This requirement aligns with best practices to ensure students are prioritizing their participation in college-level courses, a hallmark of a successful college student, and is required by State law. The CCP Office will not respond to requests for excusal of this requirement. Any CCP student who attempts to circumvent this requirement in any capacity may be dismissed from the CCP program.
Missed Appointment / Cancellation Policy
It is expected that CCP students attend all scheduled advising appointments. It is the student's responsibility to make sure they have reliable internet connection, have a working microphone and camera, are prepared to discuss course selection, and can come to their appointment on time. Academic advisors can have very limited availability in advising appointments, so it is important that they are not wasted.
If student are more than 10 minutes late to their appointment, the advisor will end the meeting and the appointment will be marked as 'Missed.'
- After the first missed appointment, students will receive communication from their advisor regarding the missed appointment. Students will need to respond to that communication confirming they have received it before being permitted to reschedule another appointment. If students attempt to reschedule an appointment without confirming with their advisor, the appointment will be canceled.
- After the second missed appointment, students will no longer be allowed to schedule advising appointments for that semester. If a student would like to take classes, they will need to attend their advisor’s drop-in hours to satisfy their mandatory advising appointment requirement. If they do not attend a drop-in session, they will not meet the mandatory advising appointment requirement and will not be permitted to take classes that semester.
If students need to reschedule or cancel their appointment, they will need to notify their advisor within 24 hours of their original scheduled time via My Bearcat Network as demonstrated during Orientation. If the appointment is rescheduled or canceled with less than 24 hours notice more than once or after missing a previous appointment, students will not be permitted to schedule another advising appointment for that semester. If a student would like to take classes, they will need to attend their advisor’s drop-in hours to satisfy their mandatory advising appointment requirement. If they do not attend a drop-in session, they will not meet the mandatory advising appointment requirement and will not be permitted to take classes that semester.
