Explore your passion while earning college credit

College & Career Tracks are collections of recommended classes designed to introduce you to a specific college degree or career field, while in high school. Each track aligns with a major at UC and allows you to complete around 30 credits towards your desired degree.

Tracks are created by the UC College Credit Plus team in collaboration with participating colleges. Consideration of major requirements is the basis of course selection for every track and each course within a tier is guaranteed to satisfy a program or admissions requirement of the associated major at UC. Courses may also satisfy requirements for majors at other universities or colleges.

Benefits

  • Explore. If you have an idea of what you’d like to major in when you get to college, a College & Career Track can help you explore if it’s the right program for you while you earn college credit towards a degree.
  • Save. Additionally, earning college credit now can save you money and lessen your course load down the line, plus potentially let you graduate college earlier.
  • Achieve. For each tier you complete, you will receive a digital pendant in recognition of your efforts to complete courses in your desired major area.

How It Works

A track consists of two tiers, each containing five to six courses totaling about 15 credits per tier. All courses within a track are applicable toward a degree at UC. You don’t have to complete an entire tier within one semester and completing Tier 1 does not require you to participate in Tier 2.

Tier 1 Tier 2
  • Contains the introductory, foundational courses
  • All courses in Tier 1 satisfy Level 1* course requirements
  • Completing all courses in Tier 1 allows you to continue to Tier 2
  • Courses in Tier 1 may be offered online, but it’s not guaranteed
  • Builds on the foundation of Tier 1
  • You must complete all courses in Tier 1 to enroll in Tier 2
  • Courses in Tier 2 are not guaranteed to satisfy Level 1* requirements
  • Courses may have additional requirements, such as on-campus attendance and higher passing grades
