Each year, we bring together experts, educators, and advocates to discuss the latest trends, tools, and practices that promote accessible digital experiences for everyone. This event offers a dynamic mix of keynotes, hands-on workshops, and interactive sessions designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to create more inclusive and equitable digital environments.

A trailblazer, advocate, and educator, Haben Girma embodies the spirit of inclusivity and empowerment. Haben is the first Deafblind person to graduate from Harvard Law School. She has since tirelessly championed accessibility and disability justice as both an advocate and human rights lawyer. Her unique insights and unwavering commitment to equity make her an unparalleled voice in the realm of accessibility.
Haben contributions extend past legal advocacy. As a sought-after speaker and consultant, she has worked with organizations worldwide, guiding them towards creating environments that foster accessibility and diversity. She inspires audiences to rethink conventional notions of inclusion with engaging storytelling and passion. Her keynotes have been delivered on the stages of Apple, Google, Microsoft, Oxford University, and more.

Matthew Williamson, Ph.D. and Roderick Roberts
Join us for an interactive session where you'll learn to enhance the accessibility of your course materials using the Ally tool in Canvas. This hands-on session is designed specifically for instructors who wish to ensure their content is inclusive and accessible to all students. You'll discover practical ways to implement Ally's features, receive personalized guidance, and leave with the confidence to create an equitable learning environment.
Matthew Williamson
Associate Director, Center for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning
Matthew directs efforts related to online learning and teaching. Beyond online education, he specializes in alternative assessment, e-accessibility, and artificial intelligence.
Roderick Roberts
Director, Accessibility Services
Roderick serves as UC's Director of Digital Accessibility, and has worked in accessibility, compliance, and technology fields for over twenty-five years.
Spencer Penrod
With the rise of online learning environments there has been a steady increase in the use of video media. Captions are an important part of this content and can greatly enhance the learning experience for our students, by allowing for more flexibility in the content you create. This workshop will prepare you to leverage the tools available to you to caption your videos, including requesting professional captions, adding videos to Kaltura, editing captions in Kaltura, and editing captions in YouTube. This workshop will have a participation section, and an electronic device will be required to participate in this portion.
Spencer Penrod
Digital Accessibility Specialist, Digital Access
Spencer specializes in captioning of recorded media; accessible media and course content, alternative formats, document remediation, assistive and accessible technology.
Join us for an interactive session designed to help you quickly identify and address accessibility issues in your digital content. This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to make their websites, third-party tools, electronic documents, or social media posts more inclusive, without needing expert-level knowledge. You'll learn practical DIY accessibility tests, how to spot common accessibility red flags, and discover free tools and trusted web browser plugins to aid in your efforts. Leave with the knowledge and confidence to create more accessible and user-friendly digital experiences.
