Learn about plants growing wild in the Ohio and Indiana areas and enjoy beautiful Fall foliage while you're at it! Enjoy the outdoors at Spring Grove Cemetery and with UC Botanist, Dr. Denis Conover to discover the diversity of the families of Ohio Woody Trees at this beautiful time of year. Students will hike outdoors and will learn about native trees, shrubs and wildflowers, and non-native invasive plants. Location takes place at Spring Grove Cemetery unless otherwise notified.

This course provides an introduction to the diversity of the families of flowering plants we’ll discover at this beautiful time of year. The emphasis will be on plants growing wild in the Ohio and Indiana areas. Students will learn the plant anatomy and terminology to develop their plant identification skills. We will also cover the ecology of the plants discovered during our field trips.

This course provides an introduction on how to identify woody plants (trees, shrubs, and vines) with an emphasis on plants growing wild in the Ohio area. Students will learn plant anatomy and terminology to develop their plant identification skills. We will also cover the ecology of the plants discovered during our field trips. The book, “Woody Plants of Ohio,” by E. Lucy Braun, and a hand lens (10X) would come in handy for you to bring.
