Background

This policy applies to employees who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement or for whom the agreement contains no provision regarding this subject.

Policy

  1. Medical and Dental – Retirees covered under Grandfathered Retirement Plan (TIAA- CREF/Vanguard/Fidelity) may elect to continue coverage through the university retiree medical and dental plans. Other university retirees are not eligible to continue coverage through the university retiree medical and dental plans.
  2. Tuition Remission – Tuition remission is provided for employees who meet the university definition of a retiree as outlined in HR Policy 12.02. Dependents are eligible for Tuition Remission following an employee’s retirement as long the dependent meets all eligibility requirements.
  3. Ancillary benefits – UC Retiree identification cards are issued by the Office of Public Safety. Retirees may obtain limited parking, bookstore discounts, reduced price tickets for university events and have continued access to specified university facilities upon presentation of a valid UC Retiree identification card.
