Julie Thalman
Vice Provost for UC Online
Julie Thalman, Vice Provost for UC Online, oversees the day-to-day operations of UC’s online programs, including the development and integration of new degrees and tailoring UC Online to professional higher education initiatives. Thalman directs a team that supports enrollment and retention services, marketing, and instructional design. Thalman also works with UC’s college deans and senior administrative leaders to develop relevant and sought-after online programming.
Before joining the Office of the Provost at UC, Thalman served as Assistant Provost for Online and Continuing Professional Education at West Virginia University. During her 16-year tenure, Thalman launched various programs and services to support online students throughout their collegiate careers.
Thalman holds an Ed.D. in applied learning sciences from the University of Miami, an MBA from Boise State University, and both a master’s in integrated marketing communications and a bachelor's in psychology from West Virginia University. Her research explores the intersection of nontraditional learner preferences and the integration of machine learning to enhance online education outcomes.
