Affiliated Offices

The Learning Commons provides centralized academic support for University of Cincinnati students. We bring together faculty, best-practices in teaching and learning, and hundreds of outstanding peer educators to create flexible academic success programming. Each year more than 6,000 students take advantage of Learning Commons programs to build confidence, integrate on campus, and master challenging course content.

The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning supports faculty as they seek to infuse UC classrooms with innovative and effective pedagogical approaches to maximize student learning. Areas of expertise and focus include: classroom pedagogy and innovation, assessment, scholarship of teaching and learning, course design, and gateway instruction.

The college leads the Cooperative Education Program, which for over 100 years has provided students with the opportunity to alternate full-time terms of school and work to provide them with a solid base of experience and professional development. Additionally, it also launched: Academic Internship Program, Center for Cooperative Education Research and Innovation, and Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement.

The General Education Core has a firm foundation in UC’s Academic Plan, to reaffirm liberal education as the core to preparing students as life-long learners. Our General Education course requirements are purposefully designed to strengthen four important learning outcomes or competencies throughout the student’s progress toward their degree. The four Baccalaureate Competencies are: Critical Thinking, Effective Communication, Knowledge Integration, and Social Responsibility.

The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards at the University of Cincinnati is a resource for outstanding students at the university who seek to compete for the most prestigious and most highly competitive scholarships and fellowships such as the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships for postgraduate study and the Truman and Goldwater scholarships for undergraduate study.

University Honors is committed to helping students maximize their educational opportunities at UC while discovering and pursuing their passions in life and using their gifts and talents to make meaningful contributions to society. The University Honors Program comprises the top 7% of University of Cincinnati undergraduate students and offers an engaging environment in which students are inspired to experience more and learn more.
