UC Aware email regarding officer-involved shooting

Dear UC Community,

We want to make you aware of an incident that occurred earlier this evening involving a University of Cincinnati Police Officer. At approximately 6:30 p.m. a UCPD officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Rice and Valencia streets, which is about one mile off of campus. During the traffic stop an altercation occurred between the officer and the driver of the car. A shot was fired and the driver of the car was killed. UCPD is working collaboratively with Cincinnati Police and an invesTgation is on-going. The UCPD officer suffered minor injuries and has been treated and released from the hospital.
