President's Welcome
President Santa Ono
- Confirmed university commitment to community involvement and participation.
- Perform complete review of UCPD and then begin review of other areas of UC.
- Review diversity and growth with aspect to admissions, faculty and staff.
- Rebuild trust between UC and community.
CAC Mission
Vice President Robin Engel
- Discussed opportunity to work collaboratively with the goal of creating a national standard for urban campus policing.
- Immediate focus of the CAC is reform efforts related directly to the UCPD.
- Discussed the five core values of council – transparency, legitimacy, fairness, collaboration and innovation.
Call to Service
Judge John A. West
- Review of packet materials, including the Statement of Guiding Principles.
- Encouraged honest feedback; welcomes advice and direction.
- Effort will track progress of various reviews.
- Confirmed that council will accept the findings from the independent Kroll report and work of the CAC will focus from that point forward.
Proposal for Review
- Dr. Engel to prepare a request for proposal (RFP) for the comprehensive review of the UCPD.
- RFP to be reviewed internally by 10/30/15.
- RFP to be distributed to CAC members for discussion at next meeting before sending out to bid.
Statement of Guiding Principles
- Members signed the CAC’s Statement of Guiding Principles.
- Members will receive scanned copy of the signed form via email.
- A hardcopy will be provided at next meeting.

- Discussed Irate8 demands, and President Ono’s response to the larger movement, and inclusion/diversity issues on campus.
- Website has been created that documents all University activities since the officerinvolved shooting of Mr. Samuel Dubose. (https://uc.edu/safety-reform.html)
