Co-Op 2.0
UC is ranked the No. 1 public university for co-op and internships by U.S. News & World Report.
UC invented cooperative education in 1906. Now, we are pioneering a new paradigm for learning and working. In 2018 - 2019, UC students participated in nearly 7,500 full-time co-op placements in 30 countries and across 43 states earning more than $88 million.
Shaping Tomorrow Through Co-op 2.0
- Provide every baccalaureate student the opportunity for paid experiential placement.
Co-op 2.0 builds on UC’s historic co-op experience in DAAP, Engineering, IT, and Business to include on-campus and part-time co-op experiences. Now, all UC students can receive supervised, major-related, compensated work experiences including those who must maintain part-time jobs, those who take courses while working to stay on track academically, and those who have had little to no professional preparation or work experience prior to starting at UC.
Using a $12 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor, UC’s Division of Experience-Based Learning and Career Education has created the NEXT Apprenticeship Program.
The innovative program will create robust, flexible pathways to well-paying, high-skill careers in informatics and computing fields by meeting students where they are and offering a thoughtful combination of industry-recognized credentials and varying degree options coupled with industry experience.
