Get to Know Maggie McDonnell (She|Her)
Psychology Intern
Maggie McDonnell, she/her, is a doctoral psychology intern at the UC CAPS Calhoun location. She received her Psy.M. in clinical psychology and is completing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Maggie uses an integrative, person-centered approach to meet the individual needs and strengths of each client. When working with students, she hopes to provide a safe, collaborative environment where students can share their challenges, goals, and joys. With a generalist training background, she has experience working with a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, family and relationship conflict, life transitions, and identity development.
Maggie was born and raised in Chicago. In Maggie’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, family, and friends, watching a TV show or movie, and eating good food.
What I do to take care of myself after a challenging day/time/situation: talk to supportive friends, listen to music, go for a walk
Coping skills I recommend to clients that I actually use: taking deep breaths, engaging in joyful movement, prioritize sleep and boundaries
Something I like about myself: being a reliable friend, sense of humor and sarcasm
