What I do to take care of myself after a challenging day/time/situation: Give myself permission to rest and engage in activities that match my capacity at that time. Also, saying “no” to adding more to my plate.
Coping skills I recommend to clients that I use myself: Creating space to play! As we get older, we can shift away from engaging in activities simply because we enjoy them. What are some things I do for play? Tennis, dance, trying new recipes, board games, read, binge a new series.
