Prepare for Commencement

All graduating students MUST apply for graduation to receive their diploma and become official University of Cincinnati graduates. During the graduation application process, you will indicate whether or not you intend to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

Students should meet with their advisor before completing the application to ensure eligibility for graduation. All applications for graduation are handled by the Office of the Registar. You can find more information by visiting their Apply to Graduate page.

Graduating students who would like to have international guests attend the Commencement ceremony can request a graduation invitation letter from UC International, through iBearcatsGlobal.

If you have any questions please contact UC International.

Commencement is a ticketed ceremony for both graduates and guests. Each graduating student who RSVP's to participate in Commencement has the opportunity to request tickets by the ticket claim deadline. If you need more guest tickets, you may also submit to be added to a waitlist for additional guest tickets. Please only request the guest tickets that you need.

Tickets must be claimed through our online ticket portal. Graduates are emailed the ticket deadline and a link to claim tickets following these steps:

1.  Click the link and select the “Login/Register” button in the top right corner.

2.  Click "Forgot Password."

3.  Enter your UC email address in the box with the envelope icon.

4.  Click "Send Password Reset Email."

5.  Check your UC email inbox for a message from "no-reply@audienceview.com" and follow the instructions to finish resetting your password. (Make sure to check your spam/junk folder if you don't see the email in your inbox. Please allow up to 30 minutes for the email to arrive.)

6.  Once logged in, click “Get Tickets” on your ceremony.

7.  Enter the number of tickets. Click “Next.”

8.  If you do not need all your tickets, you can select the “Ticket Donation” option to donate your unneeded tickets. If you donate tickets back, you will NOT be able to claim them later.

10.  Do not select to “Opt in for text message notifications.” This feature is not active.

Choose “Send this Mobile Ticket” to send a ticket via mobile device. Each ticket has a unique code which allows entry into the ceremony only once. If there are multiple copies made, the first copy of the ticket to arrive at the ceremony will gain entry after scanning and validation. All other copies of that ticket will be denied entry.

13.  You will receive an email confirmation of your ticket reservation. You can access your tickets at any time in “Your Orders” under your name at the top of the site.

All graduating students must wear regalia at the ceremony. Regalia will be available for purchase at the links below. If you have any questions, please contact the UC Bookstore at 0032mgr@follett.com.

Day of Ceremony

To maximize your experience at the ceremony, we encourage you to leave belongings at home or with your guests. A full list of approved and non-approved bags can be found here.

Graduation is a time to celebrate. We will make every reasonable effort to hold the    Commencement ceremonies outside in Nippert Stadium to celebrate all your        accomplishments. However, weather in May in Cincinnati can be unpredictable, so we        encourage you to prepare in advance. You may consider bringing a raincoat, poncho,        and/or sunscreen depending on the forecast.

If modifications to the ceremonies are needed, we will announce any changes as early as possible so you and your guests can adjust your plans. Ultimately, our primary goal is to keep students and guests safe.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held. Remember, umbrellas are not allowed in Nippert Stadium for the safety and consideration of other guests.

In the event of severe weather (including thunder and lightning), graduates will be moved to a sheltered area and then directed into the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) to walk across the stage and have their name announced. Only graduates will be allowed inside the CRC. The livestream will continue throughout this process and will also be available for viewing on the Commencement website the following day.

Graduating students have been emailed information on Student Check-in for their ceremony! Please check your UC email for important day of ceremony details.

Graduates may not carry any objects on stage. This is to ensure the proper pace and safety of the graduates as they cross the graduation stage. This rule does not apply to items needed to navigate the stage, such as a walker, crutches, etc.

Guests are permitted to bring signs which are hand-held and no greater than 11" x 17". Any signs of a larger size are prohibited. This is to ensure a clear view of the ceremony for all attendees. Signs, banners, and flags may not be hung or fastened anywhere. The staff reserves the right to remove any flag, banner or sign that fails to comply with University rules and policies.

After Commencement

Graduates will be photographed at the ceremony by professional photographers. A link to purchase photos will be sent to your UC email address after Commencement.
