Become a Success Skills Workshops Peer Educator

Success Skills Workshops are one-hour sessions that focus on skills students need to be successful in college (academic habits and metacognitive skills). Topics that are covered in the Success Skills Workshops include, but are not limited to: preparing for a successful semester, note taking, public speaking, how to work in groups, personal finance, and stress management.

The Success Skills Workshops Peer Educator’s role is to present and facilitate students through pre-built interactive presentations. Student group sizes range between 20-25 students per workshop. Success Skills Workshop Peer Educators may be required to facilitate the workshops in-person and/or virtually.

Success Skills Workshops Peer Educators' schedules will be coordinated with the student’s curricular and extracurricular activities. Outside of the workshop schedule, staff must be available to meet once a month for staff meeting.

Competitive Success Skills Workshop Peer Educators will have:

  • At least 30 credit hours earned and one full semester at UC (by start of employment)
  • A minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Excellent self-motivation and organization skills
  • Availability of at least 5 hours per week, with fewer than 24 hours of work per week across all campus positions
  • Prior success in completing a Learning Commons Success Plan
