Mia Turnbull
Mia Turnbull, a Fulbright finalist, graduated in May of 2020 from the University of Cincinnati. She majored in Early Childhood Education and obtained a Spanish minor while at the university.
Mia was heavily involved in Greek Life at UC, serving as a Panhellenic Council Judicial Board Member, as well as Vice President of Organization, Membership Chairman, and Nominating Committee Chairman for her chapter, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Additionally, Mia was involved with other organizations on campus and in the Cincinnati area. She volunteered with Project Yoga and Bilingual Buddies, and was involved with She UC and Tampon Task Force on campus. Mia’s time at UC allowed her to student teach within three different schools within the Cincinnati area, spend a summer as a teaching fellow with Breakthrough Central Texas, and spend a summer session abroad in Santiago, Chile through USAC. Through these experiences, she was able to find her passion for ESL and international education, and working to provide students who face large amounts of adversity with tools necessary for success. Mia will be heading to La Rioja, Spain in January 2021 to carry out her Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship. She really looks forward to becoming immersed within Spanish culture, learning about different ways of life and perspectives, and growing within her teaching abilities, as well as personally.
