How We Can Help

The Office of the University Ombuds is a space to share your university-related conflicts and concerns. You choose what, if anything, happens next. Among the things an Ombuds can do:

  • Listen critically, with the goal of helping you do your own best thinking. 
  • Assist you in identifying options and preparing for the next steps.  
  • Research to gather information and support your informed decision-making. 
  • Facilitate group process and/or mediate voluntary conversations regarding UC-related differences/conflict. To explore this idea, please start by scheduling an individual initial appointment. Ombuds best practice is to meet individually with each person before meeting with a group.
  • Develop content and relationships to contribute to a conflict-competent UC community. 
  • Surface patterns of concern for the most appropriate channel and bridge communication gaps that could escalate unnecessarily.
