Math Placement
The ALEKS math placement task is carefully designed to assess math ability and correctly place students into a UC math course. Most students are able to take the ALEKS from home through the test portal. You will need your 6+2 to access the ALEKS portal. If you prefer to take the ALEKS in the Testing Services office, please contact our office to check availability. You may visit the Office of Advising & Academic Services for additional information about the ALEKS math placement test.
ALEKS Frequently Asked Questions
Before you take the ALEKS for the First Time, please make sure you read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) provided by the Office of Academic Advising.
ALEKS Retake Information
The ALEKS is used to ensure that students are placed correctly into their first math course. If you believe that the results of your initial ALEKS test do not accurately reflect your math abilities you may retake the exam unproctored up to five (5) times. Your highest ALEKS score will be the one that is used for your math placement.
