UC to celebrate 100th anniversary of Nippert Stadium dedication all season

Cincinnati Athletics will commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the dedication of Nippert Stadium during the entire 2024 football season, celebrating the life of stadium namesake Jimmy Nippert as the Bearcats' season-long theme. The celebration will take center stage Nov. 9, 2024 when the Bearcats face former BIG EAST rival West Virginia on Carson Field.

UC Nursing alum continues to further advocacy efforts for LGBTQ+ community

University of Cincinnati alum Cole Williams, BSN ’23, has continued to stay busy post-graduation. In addition to working at the med-surg floor at Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, he continues to make strides at Pride and Plasma, a group he founded in 2022 to advocate for revising blood and tissue donation guidelines.

33rd annual UC Real Estate Center Dinner celebrates vibrant Cincinnati real estate community

Nearly 600 real estate professionals, students, alumni and supporters packed Cincinnati Music Hall on June 12 for the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Center’s 33rd annual Real Estate Dinner. Attendees showed out to celebrate Lindner’s real estate students and the night’s top honoree Gregg Fusaro, partner, CIG Communities, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.

UC alum credits journalism program with early success

Zachary Jarrell came to the University of Cincinnati in 2019 to pursue a degree in statistics. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. For many undergraduates, the journey through college rarely takes the expected track. Detours happen, and majors change. When plans switch up, it can be helpful to a student’s success to find support. For Jarrell, it was the people he worked alongside in the journalism department who helped him on his journey. It has left a lasting impression on his life so far, guiding him to multiple internships as an undergraduate, real-world experience in prominent news outlets, and eventually a successful career in the highly competitive field of journalism.

Cincinnati Enquirer: Black doctors urge residents to vaccinate because 'goal is for all of us to stay alive'

In Ohio, 43 percent of the total population has started the COVID-19 vaccination, but just 23 percent of Black residents have gotten at least one shot. Hamilton County closely mirrors the state’s pace. A group of black physicians, including two University of Cincinnati faculty, have signed an open letter to the Greater Cincinnati Black community urging members to complete the COVID-19 vaccination.

MedicalResearch.com: Good idea to wash your water bottles in the dishwater before using

Tritan is a BPA-free plastic. A team of University of Cincinnati researchers acquired 10 different Tritan bottles and detected BPA release from two kinds of Tritan bottles. The team then tested whether rinsing, handwashing or dishwashing removed the BPA from the Tritan bottles. The results of their study is available in the scholarly journal Chemosphere.
