Staff enrichment is a key pathway within the University of Cincinnati's Next Lives Here strategic direction. The new Staff Senate serves the university by promoting, protecting and representing the interests and perspectives of all university staff.

UC Staff Senate serves as an advisory body to the president and university leadership. The purpose is to provide service to staff through advocacy, education and appreciation.

Staff Senate endeavors to have representative and diverse members reflecting UC's many constituent groups across various colleges, divisions and departments. 

All benefits-eligible employees, exempt and non-exempt, both full and part-time, who are not principally charged with teaching, are eligible to become members of the Staff Senate.

Key dates for fiscal year 2019:

  • March 15-April 5, 2019 - nomination requests
  • May 6-17, 2019 - online balloting
  • June 2019 - new senators announced
  • July 2019 - new term begins

Could body roundness index replace BMI?

Now a recent paper published in JAMA Network Open reported that the body roundness index, or BRI, shows promise as a better predictor of mortality in adults.
