UC professor named MacArthur fellow

Shailaja Paik, PhD, from UC's College of Arts and Sciences, has been named a MacArthur Fellow. She is only one of 10 MacArthur Fellows to be named in Ohio and the first ever in both the city of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati.

Western & Southern, UC team up for first-of-its-kind partnership

UC Family Weekend marks 20 years, drawing more than 6,000 participants to campus

UC Family Weekend, Sept. 20-22, attracted more than 6,000 parents, siblings and supporters of UC students. Attendance set a record for an event that marked its 20th anniversary and showcased 50 different activities. The UC versus University of Houston Cougars football game was among the weekend highlights. The Bearcats packed Nippert Stadium and won 34-0.

CCM’s Music Education Division hosts workshop with violinist Tracy Silverman on Oct. 16

The UC College-Conservatory of Music's Division of Music Education and the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association present a free workshop with electric violinist Tracy Silverman beginning at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Silverman will work with CCM students throughout the day on Oct. 16, discussing his career and providing master classes. His residency will culminate with a strum bowing and improvisation workshop, which is open to teachers and college students from throughout the Tristate area.

UC students unearth history at Tharros archaeological dig

Every summer, a group of undergraduate students from the UC Department of Classics make the journey from Cincinnati to Tharros, Italy.   However, these students won’t be sipping lemonade and lounging by the Mediterranean Sea all summer. They will be participating in experiential, hands-on learning, working as archaeologists on an important excavation.
