CCM Composition Professor awarded 2025 Wachtmeister Award

The UC College-Conservatory of Music congratulates Douglas Knehans, Professor of Composition, who was recently named the recipient of the 2025 Wachtmeister Award. Awarded every two years by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), the prize includes a 30 day residency at Mt. San Angelo in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as a $1,000 honorarium and a travel stipend.

University of Cincinnati College of Medicine celebrates outstanding Match Day

The energy inside the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine’s Kresge Auditorium was electric on Friday, March 21, 2025, as 169 fourth-year medical students eagerly gathered with family, friends, faculty and staff for the highly anticipated Match Day 2025 ceremony. The event marked the culmination of years of dedication, hard work and perseverance, with students learning where they will continue their medical training through residency programs.

CCM hosts public lecture on rock music and politics in South America

The UC College-Conservatory of Music's public lecture series continues at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, with a talk on rock and politics presented by guest speaker Minerva Campion, who serves as Professor of Political Science at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia. This talk is free and open to the general public. It will be presented in Watson Recital Hall, which is located on the 1000 level of the Corbett Center for the Performing Arts in the CCM Village.

UC's fourth-year medical students celebrate Match Day

At the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine, 169 students gripped envelopes as they waited to learn their fate on Friday, along with thousands of other medical students across the country. Match Day is the milestone occasion when fourth-year medical students, along with their families, learn where they’ll be spending their residencies.

Add-on metformin promising in ER-positive endometrial cancer

Cancer Center researcher studies unique behavior of pediatric brain tumors

The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center’s Timothy Phoenix, PhD; Pratiti (Mimi) Bandopadhayay, MBBS, PhD, of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; and David Jones, PhD, of the German Cancer Research Center have been awarded a $1.2 million grant from the Team Jack Foundation to study pediatric low-grade gliomas.

CECH Chats podcast speaks with professors and students involved in important criminal justice research

Funded by a 2024 grant award from the Department of Justice/Office of Violence Against Women, CECH's School of Criminal Justice and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Allied Health Sciences have embarked on an ambitious research project titled "Language Access Barriers to Justice Among Victims of Violence Against Women with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.” The project provides students across the whole academic lifespan, from undergraduate to doctoral studies, with opportunities to participate in functions of the research and gain hands-on experience with their field of study.
