Keep your finger on the pulse of September events with the Lindner College of Business

School is back in session at the University of Cincinnati. From getting into a new routine with coursework or attending kickoff meetings for student clubs and organizations to the many exciting firsts for the new Carl H. Lindner Hall, September will be one of the busiest months for the college.

We’ve curated a variety of events that the Carl H. Lindner College of Business is hosting or taking part in throughout the month of September. Mark your calendar — we hope to see students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters throughout the month!

College Close-Ups

  • Date and Time: Various dates, starting at 9 a.m.
  • Location: University Pavilion, throughout campus and Lindner Hall

The Undergraduate Office of Admissions organizes a wide range of visits and events throughout the year. High school students considering attending the University of Cincinnati can attend a first-year preview followed by a college close-up to gain an immersive look into their academic interests. Lindner College of Business close-up dates are:

Goering Center 20th Annual Family & Private Business Awards

  • Date and Time: Tuesday, Sept. 10, 5:30-9 p.m.
  • Location: Jack Cincinnati Casino

The Goering Center Family and Private Business Awards showcases the unique successes of Greater Cincinnati’s family and private businesses that have consistently contributed to the region’s economic growth and demonstrate best business practices. The awards recognize large and small, established and emerging businesses as a way to celebrate the important role these enterprises play in the vitality of the Greater Cincinnati region. Real Estate Fair

  • Date and Time: Thursday, Sept. 12, 5-8 p.m.
  • Location: U-Square, 225 Calhoun Street, Room 359

The UC Real Estate Association (UCREA), the student-led organization under the UC Real Estate Center, is hosting its second annual UC Real Estate Career Info Night. This event will provide current UC real estate students the chance to learn about the current, existing employment opportunities that exist at some of the nation’s top real estate firms. Interested students or companies can learn more and register.

Sales Leadership Club Professional Workshop

  • Date and Time: Thursday, Sept. 12, 6:15-7:30 p.m.
  • Location: 3230 Lindner Hall

Students can get ready for the Fall Career Fair and Sales Expo (Oct. 29) with help from corporate volunteers from companies such as Colliers International, DHL Express, Liberty Mutual and more. These company representatives will be on-hand to answer all human resources-related questions, review and critique resumes and help students improve their elevator pitch.

Meet the Firms is an annual opportunity for accounting and finance students to meet and learn about career opportunities in their field.

Meet the Firms

  • Date and Time: Monday, Sept. 16, 4-7 p.m.
  • Location: Tangeman University Center, Great Hall

Presented by the Lindner Career Services Center and Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honorary Society, Meet the Firms attracts 40 accounting and finance organizations that students can meet, network and discuss future career opportunities with. Dress is professional attire. Learn more.

Carl H. Lindner Hall Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

  • Date and Time: Thursday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Location: Lindner Hall, 2906 Woodside Drive

The past several years are leading up to this moment! The Lindner College of Business will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speakers include Carl Lindner III and S. Craig Lindner; The Honorable Mike DeWine, Governor of Ohio; University of Cincinnati President Neville G. Pinto, PhD; Dean Marianne W. Lewis, PhD; and UC Foundation President Peter Landgren. This public event is part of the UC Bicentennial. Space and accommodations are available on a first come, first serve basis. Lindner Business Advisory Council Meeting

  • Date: Friday, Sept. 20

The Business Advisory Council (BAC) provides advice, counsel, and assistance to the leadership of the Carl H. Lindner College of Business. The Council includes a cross-section of business leaders from the Greater Cincinnati region and national business community, representing small, medium, and large companies from the public, private, and family-owned sectors. Council members are appointed to three-year terms and take an active role in Council deliberations, ultimately recommending actions that contribute to the quality of our programs and strengthen the school’s overall reputation. The new Lindner Career Services Center will open in the new Bourgraf family executive offices. Elroy Bourgraf, BBA '54, donated $1 million to the college because of the significant impact UC's co-op program had on his life.

Lindner Career Services Center Ribbon-Cutting

  • Date and Time: Friday, Sept. 20, 1 p.m.

The Lindner Career Services is the only college-specific career services team at UC. The center invites supporters, employer partners, students, alumni, faculty and staff for its ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Bourgraf family executive offices. The new center allows ample space for students to meet with their career coaches and prospective employers in one of nine interview rooms. Read more about Lindner Career Services.

Alumni Open House

  • Date and Time: Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Location: Atrium, Lindner Hall, 2906 Woodside Drive

Resupalooza

  • Date and Time: Monday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Location: 1220 Lindner Hall, 2906 Woodside Drive

Students can receive direct feedback and recommendations for their resume from employers, just in time for the Fall Career Fair. Employers include Cintas, Red Ventures, US Bank, Luxottica, Honeywell, Fifth Third Bank, Hormel Foods, Procter & Gamble, TJX, Enterprise and Macy’s. The 10-minute resume review sessions are available on a first come, first serve basis. Learn more.

Fall Career Fair

  • Date and Time: Tuesday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Location: Campus Recreation Center, 2820 Bearcat Way

Attracting more than 120 employers, the Fall Career Fair is an ideal opportunity for students to meet and network with companies to learn about co-op, internship and full-time opportunities. Professional Day (Tuesday, Sept. 24) focuses on jobs for students in the Lindner College of Business and the College of Arts & Sciences. Technical Days (Wednesday, Sept. 25, and Thursday, Sept. 26) focus on jobs in engineering and applied science and information technology. Learn more.

The Fall Career Fair attracts 120+ employers representing a variety of industries to campus for students to learn about future career opportunities and network with company representatives.

Lindner Career Services organizes events big and small throughout the school year to guide students toward launching a successful career. Many employers organize information tables or information sessions as an informal way for students to approach representatives to ask about the company, open positions, hiring process and more. Construction Management alumna honored for decades of work

December 16, 2024

The UC College of Engineering and Applied Science and the UC Alumni Association honored Construction Management alumna Melanie Drerup with the Engineering Technology Award of Distinction. Since graduating from the University of Cincinnati in 1989, Drerup has worked in the construction field, making invaluable contributions to the state of Ohio's educational infrastructure through the Ohio School Facilities Commission.
