UC criminologist speaks before President’s commission on police culture

Robin Engel testified on police culture, reasonable use of force

University of Cincinnati criminologist Robin Engel recently delivered testimony before the President’s Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice on policing culturing and reasonable use of force.

Engel, director of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the University of Cincinnati Center for Police Research and Policy, testified June 23 before the commission. The overarching theme throughout the panel was the need to use evidence-based research to inform successful reforms regarding police use of force, according to a press release issue by the Department of Justice.

The hearings were conducted via teleconference. Audio recordings and transcripts of the hearings will be posted online once available.
