Nominations Open in Sustainability Award Program

Nominate faculty, staff and students for exemplary work in sustainability

To encourage and celebrate University of Cincinnati sustainability efforts while also supporting innovation, academic excellence and urban impact, UC Sustainability is accepting nominations to recognize students, faculty and staff for exemplary work in sustainability.

Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis until March 12, 2021, and award recipients will be celebrated during Earth Day 2021 on April 22.

The three awards categories are

  • Student Award will recognize a student or student organization/group engaged in a project, effort or research related to sustainability and which cultivate a culture of sustainability and/or solve a problem or problems in light of the climate crisis. Eligible student must have been enrolled at least one semester in the current academic year, and the nominated project or effort may be either a proposal or an implemented undertaking.
  • Faculty Award will recognize awardees exemplifying a strong commitment to students as well as innovative teaching methodologies or courses that cultivate a culture of sustainability. All UC faculty are eligible to receive a Sustainability Award and recognized efforts must have taken place during the current academic year.
  • Staff Award will recognize a staff member or department demonstrating commitment to sustainability through an innovative project or implementation within their unit or work in order to integrate sustainability into every aspect of UC operations. Effort or project mut have taken place during the current academic year.

The Sustainability Award Program supports UC’s strategic direction, Next Lives Here, and the goals outlined in the 2019 UC Sustainability + Climate Action Plan.

Camp aims to empower children, teens who stutter

A one-week, evidence-based program for children and teens who stutter at the University of Cincinnati will teach kids to communicate effectively, advocate for themselves and develop confidence about their communication abilities. Camp Dream. Speak. Live., which is coming to Cincinnati for the first time July 22-26, began in 2014 at the University of Texas at Austin. The Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research at UT expects to serve more than 2,000 children at camps across the United States, Africa, Asia and Europe this year.
