Cincinnati Law Dean appointed to anti-corruption task force
'Commission to Clean Up City Council' will focus on evaluating development processes in Cincinnati
Verna Williams, UC College of Law Dean and Nippert Professor of Law, has been appointed by Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley to a new nine-member task force to evaluate the city’s development practices.
Cincinnati City Council voted unanimously last year to create the task force, which will independently review development practices in the city, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. The panel will be charged with making recommendations regarding best practices and ways to improve the development process in the city and better insulate it from political influence and corruption.
“I look forward to working alongside my fellow appointees on the task force to improve the development process for our city and the citizens of Cincinnati,” said Dean Williams. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity, to promote trust and transparency in our institutions and elected officials.”
In 2019, Dean Williams hosted a roundtable discussion bringing together local leaders and UC scholars to examine gentrification, development and affordable housing in Cincinnati.
