University of Cincinnati student Alex Macon won second place for his digital photography and multimedia work.
“...His [work] is very timely," said Summerfair Cincinnati Executive Director Jayne Utter. "His painting draws you in because he is looking right at you."
Macon is an interdisciplinary fine arts student at UC's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.
“The artist’s use of subject matter, color choices and gentle humor crept up on me and quietly demanded that I look at the world from a new perspective,” one juror wrote.
Two other UC students, David Unthank and Margeaux Lim, are among the 20 finalists.
The news was covered by Fox 19, Cincinnati Business Courier and CityBeat.
