WKRC: Local researchers working on a new potential way to treat eye diseases

UC led research may soon have a new kinder, gentler way to treat eye diseases.

UC drug delivery researcher Kevin Li, a professor in the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, takes the lead on new research looking for different ways to treat eye diseases such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Currently, these diseases are treated with direct eye injections.

In an interview with WKRC, co-researcher Michael Yang, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, explains how this federally funded study will seek alternatives to current drug delivery methods.

The study is a collaboration between UC, CCHMC and Ohio State University.
