UC Blue Ash event focuses on transgender inclusivity in health care
As health care providers take steps to provide an inclusive environment for all patients, it’s important to consider the needs of transgender and nonbinary people.
‘Transgender Inclusivity in Health Care’ is a virtual event that will be held 2-3 p.m., April 13, via WebEx. It is free and open to everyone. The event is being hosted by the Allied Health Department at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College and will feature a presentation by J.A. Carter, PhD, assistant professor of sociology at the college.
The presentation will address reasons why transgender and nonbinary people face challenges when seeking affirming health care, and some ways providers can make medical spaces and care more inclusive. Carter will also discuss important terminology and the various ways in which one might engage in social and/or physical transitions.
“This session will be especially beneficial for anyone in health care or training to work in a health care setting. However, the material will also be relevant to anyone wishing to learn more about the challenges faced by trans and nonbinary people in contemporary U.S. society,” says Carter.
You can register to participate in the ‘Transgender Inclusivity in Health Care’ WebEx event on CampusLink. Anyone with questions can contact the Allied Health Department at 513-936-1631.
