WLWT: Indian Hill Elementary School commits to financial literacy
UC partners with local high school to teach elementary school children economics
April is financial awareness month and Ohio requires that high schools teach financial literacy. A local high school takes it a step further with the help of UC’s Alpaugh Family Economics Center by teaching economic lessons to grade school children.
Indian Hill Elementary school gave fifth graders money to invest in the stock market. The students are able to also track in real-time how the pandemic affects the stock market. Every single member of the its current fifth grade class participated in the Stock Market Game with some students ranking in the state for their results.
The Stock Market Game is made possible through a partnership with the Alpaugh Family Economic Center. Affiliated with the University of Cincinnati, the center offers research, financial forecasting and educational development for students, teachers and parents at no cost.
