WVXU: Trust In Government Hinges On Life Experience, Divisiveness

Political scientist Tia Sherèe Gaynor weighs in on government and how it’s viewed.

A special WVXU radio series called "Trust in Government" examines Cincinnati politics and the individuals who helped shape it, then and now.

The May 18 segement focused on life experience and division, with University of Cincinnati political scientist Tia Sherèe Gaynor joining the conversation.

“It's not surprising to me that someone who is white doesn't necessarily experience systemic disadvantage because it's (the government) designed to be interpreted in that way,” said Gaynor, an assistant professor in UC’s Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. “Whereas if you're a person of color, or if you're an individual that has a marginalized, or underrepresented identity, then you experience the world very differently."
