UC faculty says new service not 100% secure
Amazon’s new, free service called Sidewalk might leave you opened to security breaches, caution IT experts.
The new Sidewalk program creates mesh between internet connected devices. If your Wi-Fi goes down but your neighbor still has theirs, then your Amazon, and other devices, could still be connected; and it could even connect on the go.
"Amazon says that it worked very hard and that they did a very good job with the security and securing it. However, it is an important point to remember that when they say there will be security updates, this means that it is not a complete project," Zag ElSayed, an assistant professor in the School of Information Technology, told WKRC.
