ConsumerAffairs: Workplace disruptions may create a greater sense of belonging

UC-led research finds the good in office interruptions

Workplace interruptions have historically been thought of as barriers to productivity. However, a new study that originated at the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business found the converse: That these interruptions - both professional and personal - create a sense of belonging and negate any impact on job satisfaction.

The research appears, which now appears in ConsumerAffairs, has been covered throughout the country and aboard.

The study’s lead author, Harshad Puranik, PhD, earned his doctoral degree in UC’s managerial studies program in the Lindner College of Business and is now an assistant professor at the University of Illinois. Two former UC faculty co-authored the study.
