Hoxworth Blood Center kicks off new school year with UC all-campus blood drive
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is calling on the Bearcat community to start the new school year the right way by donating blood.
Students, faculty, staff and fans of UC are encouraged to donate during the UC All Campus blood drive, beginning Monday, Sept. 20 through Friday, Sept. 24. All donors will receive a limited-edition long-sleeved pullover.
Hoxworth donor buses will parked on TUC Plaza on UC’s main campus each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Additional blood drives will be held at UC Clermont on Monday, Sept. 20, UC Blue Ash on Wednesday, Sept. 22, and the UC Medical Campus on Thursday, Sept. 23
“We know that our Bearcat community has been so excited to back on campus, and we can’t wait to see some familiar faces and welcome new students during our first blood drive of the year,” said Jackie Marschall, spokesperson for Hoxworth. “We need blood donors now more than ever, and the University of Cincinnati community has always done an amazing job of answering our call and rolling up their sleeves to save lives.”
Marschall added that as the only provider of blood products in the Tri-State area, Hoxworth needs to collect 400 units of blood and 50 units of platelets a day to fulfill the needs of local hospitals.
Appointments are encouraged to maintain proper social distancing, and masks are required of all donors. Donors must bring an ID with birthdate.
