Yahoo News: State House, Senate map proposal praised, critiqued
Political scientist David Niven comments on redistricting maps
The Republican proposal for new state House and Senate district maps, adopted by the Ohio Redistricting Commission as working documents for final maps to be ratified on Sept. 15, is drawing predictably mixed reaction: approval from Republican legislators, criticism from voting-rights activists.
"This map fails disastrously in every way you could possibly measure it,” contends the University of Cincinnati’s David Niven in a Yahoo News article.
An associate professor in UC's Department of Political Science, Niven teaches American politics and conducts research on campaigns, political communication and death penalty policy.
