WCPO: UC football’s success could increase enrollment

UC marketing professor ties Bearcats’ surging social media popularity to enrollment

The undefeated University of Cincinnati football team recently reached its highest-ever ranking (No. 2) in program history, and a professor in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business thinks the team’s growing influence on social media could attract future students.

Assistant Marketing Professor Roseann Hassey, PhD, told WCPO she has discussed the football’s team creative TikTok account with her students, and she thinks the social media platform could lead to a jump in enrollment.

“I’ve actually heard that from people in the community that their children are really interested in UC when they might have been considering going to another Ohio state school,” Hassey said. 

UC Athletic Director John Cunningham told WCPO the university has the country’s fastest-growing Instagram account among collegiate sports programs.
