Graduates of the University of Cincinnati College of Law recorded an 85 percent passage rate among first-time takers sitting for the Ohio bar exam, outpacing the statewide first-time pass rate of 82.3 percent. Cincinnati Law had the state’s second highest pass rate among Ohio law schools.

“Congratulations to our UC Law graduates who successfully passed the bar and will now become licensed attorneys,” said Verna L. Williams, Dean and Nippert Professor of Law. “Passing the bar exam is not an easy feat, particularly considering the challenges of the ongoing global pandemic and an online bar exam. Your achievement exemplifies the commitment, tenacity, and hard work you have put in to make this a reality—all important skills as you advance in the legal field. The faculty and staff at the College are proud of you and what you have accomplished.  We wish you all the best.”

The passage rate for all Cincinnati Law graduates sitting for the Ohio bar exam was 82 percent, exceeding the state-wide overall passage rate of 73.4 percent. Cincinnati Law placed second in the state among Ohio law schools for overall passers.  Nine hundred and sixty-four aspiring attorneys from across the state and the country took the July bar exam in Ohio.

In addition, 15 graduates sat for the bar exam in jurisdictions outside of Ohio. Jurisdictions for 11 of those alums have released their July outcomes and results show that the Class of 2021 is on track for a 100 percent pass rate with results in from Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Applicants who successfully passed the examination and who satisfied all of the Supreme Court’s other requirements for admission will be invited to take the attorney oath of office on November 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. during a virtual ceremony.
