WATCH: CCM participates in international virtual performance with Chinese conservatory

Audiences all over the world can watch the concert in the "Melody of Yangtze River" exchange season

The Wuhan Conservatory of Music invited UC's College-Conservatory of Music to participate in the fifth year of its "Melody of Yangtze River: World Famous Music Institution Exchange Performance Season." The virtual season shares performances from 25 world famous music instutitions and orchestras from 11 countries.

Wuhan Conservatory of Music created an online platform to share live broadcasts of the programs to promote music and arts institutions around the world and to "join hands, actively exert the power of music and inspire people to face the future, fight against the pandemic together and promote development together." The virtual performance season debuted CCM's concert video submission on November 29, 2021 on Yang Shipin, a mobile-based video platform developed by CCTV, China's national broadcaster.

CCM's performance submission showcases the CCM Concert Orchestra, the Ariel Quartet with CSO/CCM Diversity Fellows, CCM Chamber Winds and the CCM Philharmonia with Opera and Voice majors. Repertoire and performance details are below.

November 20, 2024

The UC College-Conservatory of Music's concert series continued on November 1 with a performance by the CCM Wind Symphony presenting multiple pieces by guest composer Viet Cuong, who is one of the most inventive voices in the wind repertoire. The centerpiece of the concert was Cuong’s piece Re(new)al, a concerto for percussion quartet that celebrates the innovations of renewable energy. The four soloists use crystal glasses, a single snare drum, compressed air cans and more to evoke three sources of renewable energy: hydro, wind and solar.
