CCM presents virtual Moveable Feast 2022: A Bridge to the Stars

Enjoy the artistry of CCM students and alumni — all from the comfort of home during CCM's fundraiser

CCMpower is thrilled to announce the return of Cincinnati’s one-of-a-kind virtual fundraising event, Moveable Feast, featuring incredible performances by UC College-Conservatory of Music’s student artists. Despite circumstances that keep us from being together in person again, CCMpower has planned a joyful evening of artistry, food, celebration and togetherness with Moveable Feast 2022: A Bridge to the Stars, presented online on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.

Attendees can expand their artistic palettes by enjoying exceptional CCM performances and learning about the CCM students whose lives are transformed through sponsorships and patron support. The start of Moveable Feast gives virtual audiences time to choose their menu of activities while enjoying a delicious dinner from Jeff Thomas Catering and Rhinegeist Brewery —  socialize with other virtual guests, chat with some of CCM’s most famed alumni like Broadway star Karen Olivo, or spend some time behind the scenes with a glimpse at how CCM productions are created — all from the comfort of your own home.

As the virtual performance begins, Moveable Feast will take you on an artistic journey through CCM, treat you to performances by stars-of-tomorrow like CCM’s Musical Theatre Class of 2024 and the college’s award-winning Jazz Orchestra, give you a glimpse behind the curtain to witness the magic of putting together a mainstage production, take you inside the journey to become an opera star and so much more. The final performance features the CCM Philharmonia in a triumphant excerpt from Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major. The evening culminates with a special treat from CCM alumnus and famed Broadway composer Stephen Flaherty, which you won’t want to miss while you enjoy a treat from dessert sponsor, Graeter’s Ice Cream!

Moveable Feast 2022 will also honor a true “Bridge to the Stars,” Distinguished Alumnus and Professor Emeritus Earl Rivers. During his nearly 50 years at CCM, Rivers built one of the most prestigious choral conducting programs in the United States. Rivers also directed the Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble for 20 years, led the Knox Choir at Hyde Park’s Knox Presbyterian Church for nearly five decades and was instrumental in the success of the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati. His story and impact on CCM is an important stop on Moveable Feast’s artistic journey as the college celebrates this exemplary alumnus, teacher and artist. CCMpower also plans to celebrate Rivers in person during the next Moveable Feast!

Hosted by CCMpower — a dedicated volunteer group comprised of friends, advocates and alumni — Moveable Feast generates essential support to fund student scholarships, projects and travel opportunities. These unique educational offerings are essential to the CCM experience and provide creative opportunities for students that are vital to their growth as creators and collaborators. In the unforgiving landscape of this global pandemic, your support provides critical funding that the college needs to address the ever-changing challenges presented by COVID-19 and vital scholarship dollars for students. By attending Moveable Feast, you enjoy an unforgettable evening and provide life-changing funding support that impacts hundreds of students.

Watch: The CCM Wind Symphony performs guest composer Viet...

November 20, 2024

The UC College-Conservatory of Music's concert series continued on November 1 with a performance by the CCM Wind Symphony presenting multiple pieces by guest composer Viet Cuong, who is one of the most inventive voices in the wind repertoire. The centerpiece of the concert was Cuong’s piece Re(new)al, a concerto for percussion quartet that celebrates the innovations of renewable energy. The four soloists use crystal glasses, a single snare drum, compressed air cans and more to evoke three sources of renewable energy: hydro, wind and solar.
