UC President Neville Pinto's statement in support of Ukraine and its people
"The University of Cincinnati strongly condemns Russia’s unjustified invasion of Ukraine. We join the worldwide movement to demand an immediate end to the senseless death and destruction. Make no mistake: Russia’s attack is a direct assault on the fundamental ideals of freedom, independence and democracy that all of us hold dear.
We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and its people. Our thoughts are also with those in the surrounding regions who have had their lives turned upside down as a result of this unprovoked aggression.
At UC, we have students, faculty, staff and alumni with close ties to Ukraine, Russia and other bordering nations. Multiple offices across campus have reached out to many of them to offer additional support and resources. All of us must keep these members of our Bearcat Family top of mind.
If you are associated with these regions and need support, please contact UC International. If you struggle with how to cope with this crisis, please consult the mental health resources offered by CAPS. If you want to engage with any of our assistance programs across campus, please do so. All of us have a responsibility to ensure every member of our campus community has the care and support they need during these difficult times.
This tragedy is an enduring reminder of the value of who we are and why we matter as an academic community. More than ever, the world needs informed and engaged citizens who are capable of standing tall against injustices both near and far."
Impact Lives Here
The University of Cincinnati is leading public urban universities into a new era of innovation and impact. Our faculty, staff and students are saving lives, changing outcomes and bending the future in our city's direction. Next Lives Here.
