UC to host Digital Futures grand opening

Facility for interdisciplinary research to celebrate opening Sept. 23

The University of Cincinnati will celebrate the grand opening of its Digital Futures building, a facility for interdisciplinary research, on Friday in the Cincinnati Innovation District.

The grand opening will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Digital Futures building, which is located at 3080 Exploration Ave., Cincinnati, near the interchange of Martin Luther King Drive and Interstate 71.

"President [Neville] Pinto’s vision for the Cincinnati Innovation District is only getting sharper and stronger," says Ryan Hays, PhD, Chief Innovation Officer at UC. "In reaching this milestone, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Dr. [Patrick] Limbach, vice president for research, and his team for mobilizing a team of world-class researchers who bridge the traditional divides between industry and academia."

During the open house, community members will be able to tour the building and its more than 20 research labs. Researchers from the labs, led by faculty from across UC’s campus, will share information about their research and offer demonstrations.

Digital Futures labs will work to solve problems in fields including cybersecurity, advanced transportation, artificial intelligence, augmented reality and virtual reality, and community impact, among other disciplines.

Free parking will be available during the event at the Digital Futures garage, and shuttles will transport guests between UC’s main campus and Digital Futures.

Food trucks will offer free food on a first-come, first-serve basis during the grand opening.
