Long before anyone had heard of COVID-19, the World Health Organization declared 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. With the spread of the coronavirus pandemic around the world, the role of the nurse in global health care has never been more critical, and the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing is taking steps to ensure that the nursing pipeline remains robust.

WCPO: Racial gap widens as COVID-19 pandemic continues

The Collaboration Network held a virtual conference on Racial and Health Inequities Exposed by COVID-19 featuring several presentations for the Cincinnati community including discussions or commentary from Andrew Beck, MD, a Cincinnati Children’s physician and associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati; Karen Bankston, PhD, professor of emerita of the UC College of Nursing; and Amy Rule, MD, a Cincinnati Children’s physician and assistant professor of pediatrics at UC.
