Cincinnati’s Taft Museum has named Anita Graef (MM Cello ’19) the 2023 Duncanson Artist-in-Residence. The residency is designed to center the work of black artists from a variety of disciplines, and includes performances and educational events around the Cincinnati area. Graef, who was a CSO/CCM Diversity Fellow, will perform April 16, 21 and 29 as part of her Duncanson Residency.

CCM is home to an international faculty of dedicated educators who are also celebrated professionals in their own right, and two of those faculty members were recently highlighted in a New York Times roundup of notable new classical music albums. Entitled "5 Classical Music Albums You Can Listen to Right Now," the article includes recently released performance recordings featuring CCM Associate Professor of Voice Elliot Madore and CCM Assistant Professor of Cello Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir.

This year, the faculty and students of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) are nominated 20 times in 11 categories—including Best Musical, Best Opera, Best Choreography, Best Sound Design, and more!

UC’s College-Conservatory of Music presents three concert streams featuring piano students performing in CCM's Robert J. Werner Recital Hall and in other performance spaces throughout the world. Presented in conjunction with the CCMONSTAGE Online series of concert streams, the COVID Etude Project showcases CCM students performing three complete sets of etudes by composers Franz Liszt, Claude Debussy and William Bolcom. Originally broadcast March 26-28, all three concerts are now available for on-demand viewing. Each concert is also available on CCM’s website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.

CCM’s Music Theory and Musicology Society hosts its ninth biennial student conference designed to engage both UC students and students from other institutions in the broad field of music scholarship. The hybrid-format conference features keynote speakers Julianne Grasso (University of Texas at Austin) and Imani Mosley (University of Florida) and student paper presentations. This year’s conference also includes two workshops led by CCM ethnomusicologists Stefan Fiol and Scott Linford.

UC's College-Conservatory of Music is proud to present alumni and distinguished service awards to outstanding members of our community at the end of each academic year. The 2022 awards are presented to five accomplished alumni and one dedicated patron in a private virtual event as well as during the college's Graduation Convocation Ceremony. Musical Theatre students at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music put together a collection of performances to celebrate BIPOC voices. Project Exhale is available for streaming on the CCM website and YouTube Channel on Friday, July 30.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music presents six new works in Transmigration 2023, 7 p.m. March 8-10, in Liberty Exhibition Hall. Tickets are FREE, but must be reserved through the CCM Box Office.

The New York Times recently featured the East Coast premiere of "Blind Injustice," an opera based on true exonerations achieved by the Ohio Innocence Project. The production opened on Feb. 16 , 2024, at Peak Performances at Montclair State University. Premiered in 2019 at Cincinnati Opera, the opera was first workshopped through Opera Fusion: New Works (OF:NW), a collaboration between Cincinnati Opera and UC College-Conservatory of Music.

UC College-Conservatory of Music graduate student Leo De La Cruz won the CCM Wind Studies concerto competition and he achieved an honorable mention at the 2020 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition. Most recently, he won the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Carolyn Nelson Double Reed Award, which includes a $1,250 cash prize.
