More than an award for UC engineering students

More than 13 years ago, Jim Goetz, BSEE ’88, anonymously set up an award program benefiting University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science students. He quietly named the awards after his beloved grandmother, Mae, and favorite UC professor, Thomas Mantei, PhD, wanting to assist high-achieving students in electrical engineering, computer engineering and computer science programs.

Michael Valentine’s career as an innovator and entrepreneur has spanned more than four decades, and has included the creation of an industry-changing radar detector and two successful companies, Cincinnati Microwave, and his current business, Valentine Research. Through the years, Mike and his wife, Peg — both UC alumni — have become prodigious philanthropists at the University of Cincinnati and within the region, giving of their time and treasure to many causes close to their hearts.

Apple co-op leads UC student to dream job with the tech giant

Madeira, Ohio native Noah Bass successfully turned a co-op internship at Apple into a full-time job after graduating last spring with a computer science degree from the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati.
