The story of Michael Sutton was covered by The Akron Beacon Journal and USA Today. The 33-year-old Cleveland native is an Ohio Innocence Project exoneree. He spent 15 years behind bars because of a wrongful conviction. Pierce Reed, director of policy and engagement for the Ohio Innocence Project at UC Law, says that Sutton’s journey, while incredibly unfair, is far from unique.
