UC honors Armstrong protege with engineering alumni award

As a high school student in New Jersey, Ralph Spitzen joined a worldwide team of amateur astronomers to pinpoint the exact location of the moon. This work helped Neil Armstrong take humanity’s first step on the lunar surface. Spitzen later learned directly from Armstrong as an aerospace engineering student at the University of Cincinnati.

With sales of 500,000 per year, Little Tikes’ Cozy Coupe is considered the best-selling car in America. And it was the 1979 creation of a former University of Cincinnati industrial design student Jim Mariol.

UC’s Advanced Research Computing Center gets $857K boost

The University of Cincinnati has received National Science Foundation funding to greatly expand the computational research capabilities across the university with the Advanced Research Computing Center. Championed by Prashant Khare, an aerospace engineering assistant professor, the funding will also help the center to better train students for high-tech careers.
