As the 2022 DAAP Distinguished Alum of the Year, Kristen has embraced the spirit of the program’s curriculum and her co-ops to boldly found DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections, the world’s first edible cookie dough confectionery. Along with some other entrepreneurial alumni, she is also the impetus for DAAP’s new Creative Entrepreneurship Initiative.

Joe Niehaus has been cultivating his entrepreneurial tendencies since he was a child. He constantly directed questions to his small-business-owning father. He sold lemonade at the local Independence Day parade, as well as candy and T-shirts to his middle school and high school classmates.

Preston Rhodes has held a long-standing interest in digital assets. The third-year finance major founded the UC Cryptocurrency Club nearly two years ago and recently interned with a blockchain startup. Over the summer, Rhodes came across a software as a startup (Saas) business model that piqued his interest, leading to the founding of his first company, Neoteric Solutions.

Deciding what to wear soon could be a lot easier thanks to a virtual closet and personal styling app being created by a team led by a University of Cincinnati business student. Camryn Ellis, a third-year senior who plans to graduate in August, is creating an app that provides custom outfit recommendations and the ability to try on clothes virtually. With the app, Sty/e (pronounced style), she was one of the three winners of a pitch competition hosted by Main Street Ventures, called 2023 Launch It: Cincy.

A pair of University of Cincinnati and Carl H. Lindner College of Business alumni have been recognized by the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association as part of the 2023 UC Alumni Celebration, which highlights the contributions and overall excellence of UC alumni. Laurence Jones, BBA ’00, has received the Robert E. Dobbs Distinguished Service Award, while Eku Williams, BBA ’00, is Lindner’s Outstanding Alumnus honoree for 2023.

Presented by the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business Alumni Council, the 38th annual CBAAs will be held March 8 at the Cincinnati Museum Center. The region’s longest-standing event that celebrates business achievement as well as service to communities — both locally and globally — the CBAAs also raise funds for scholarships and financial assistance at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

His latest venture, a charitable organization called ShareBuilt, connects construction professionals with nonprofit groups.
